Thanks Pritz. My thoughts are just that... thoughts uttered aloud. And they keep flying high no matter what i do to drag them back. And here I stand open-mouthed, trying to get a firm grip on terrafirma lest i get carried away by my sky-bound, wayward thoughts.

Achintya...means "the thoughtless one" OR " the one beyond all thoughts"(not me not me). Good to see that u r not afraid to give a good big smile.Rare to come across that these days.
Love

hi!
am dhanya. seven people u want to meet...mami? i am her disciple's disciple. don't know if u have heard of shyamala surendran? i met mami when she came and stayed with shyamala aunty. she gave me the brightest winks i have ever got in my life with her blessings to be one of the greatest "abhinaya thilakams" in the feild of bharathanatyam. now what i am doing is the answer that i never want mami or my dearest guru shyamala aunty to know. corporate world is sick, the thala and the bhava drains off from the mind...the soul rests to beating of the keyboard keys...and the clock stops chiming to the rythym of life!

www.shyamaladharani.com
you can find mami there and also all of us who were the dharani family once upon a time!

Wow Dhanya,
Great to meet you. Ofcourse I know Shyamala Surendran, though not on a personal level. She is a graceful elegant lady.

Infact Ive met Maami, but I havent met her, if you know what I mean.

Though I had seen the benevolent lady many a time in some of the TV channels, my first experience with the person as such was when I had to accompany my Guru Smt Kalamandalam Kshemavathy to Chennai a couple of years ago where she was invited to give a Lect- demo at the Krishna gana sabha. The hall was full of biggies like Maami , Guru Chandrasekhar, Leela samson, Padma subrahmaniam etc. Needless to say, I was trembling like a leaf that had caught pneumonia.Maami, who is very fond of my Guru, wa sitting there, asking questions, and passing comments. When, after the programme, I fell at the lady's feet, she just took my face , kissed my forehead and said, "nallaa iru, ammaa". When I came out of the hall,Kshemaji offered me her kerchief to wipe my tear-strained cheeks.

Oh Dhanya, I havent stopped kicking me after that because there was quiet a lot that I wanted to ask her and tell her, and here I was, the biggest chatterbox this side of history, standing like a real dumbo.

My second encounter with God's own grace was last year, when I had gone to attend her talk at the very same venue during the very same "season".

Sweet Old maami came on stage to the accompaniment of non-stop applause. She said that she would try to do the demonstration all by herself, even though 2 of her dear students were there to assist her with the narration. Incase she feels that she is not up to it, these students would continue with the talk.Oh dear and guess who those students were? jayanthi Natarajan and Priyadarshini Govind!

Dhanya I had no clue that i was witnessing a historic moment . At the end of the lecture Maami gasped that she began her long history of Lec-Demos with Krishna Gana sabha, and this particular one was going to be her last. That was her swan song!
When I stepped out of the hall this time, there was no Kshemaji to wipe my wet cheeks, but it didnt matter, for there were many others who shared my emotional state at that moment.

Dhanyakkuttii, if you have dance in you, or any other art form, for that matter, you cant push it underneath. Stop giving excuses and get those anklets back onto your feet. You can alwys find time for that atleast during the weekends.

Loots of love
